After that, it was pretty much the Independent Spirit Awards. Clint Eastwood, Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Tom Cruise, Dustin Hoffman, Angelina Jolie, Meryl Streep and other famous nominees were essentially table ornaments - party favors for the home viewer.
