...surveys as an adjunct to our business. Last week one of these surveys was the occasion for a pair of simultaneous luncheon meetings on both sides of the Atlantic. I was a guest at the luncheon here in Manhattan, given by the British Empire Chamber of Commerce. C. D. South Carolina's coon-shouting Senator Olin Johnston, who stayed away from Washington's Jefferson-Jackson Day dinner because his wife was afraid she might be seated next to a "Nigra" (TIME, March 1), announced this week that he would nominate Dwight Eisenhower for President at the Democratic National Convention.
