...response to Rosenblatt's essay, I offer this thought. The "Age of Irony" was captured brilliantly on Seinfeld, the funniest sitcom of the '90s. The last episode, so disliked by the show's many fans, featured jail terms for the four principal characters--a telling indictment of their ineffable shallowness and that of the decade.
