Rowdy and tough are the boys in little Oswego (Ill.) High School. Last month they hounded Principal Melvin G. Attig to suicide (TIME, Jan. 2). Shocked Oswegans hoped that the tragedy would startle the boys into decency, but they took no chances. As the new principal they picked a gruff-voiced six-footer, Clarence Salter.
