Reports of an earthquake which appeared to be of destructive violence were received at the Harvard Seismograph Station yesterday. The quake occurred about 9500 miles from Cambridge and was located by Harvard seismologists as being in the vicinity of Java and the Malay Peninsula. Three distinct waves or tremors reached the University Station and by figuring the difference in time between their arrival on the Seismograph, the distance and general position of the quake was ascertained.
