Died. Arthur ("Zutty") Singleton, 77, innovative jazz drummer; in Manhattan. Zutty (Creole patois for cute) grew up musically in the hothouse of pre-World War I New Orleans jazz, developing a driving, fiercely rhythmic style on the snare and bass drums and was one of the first jazz drummers to use wire brushes.
