...other leaders that would "inform the nation about modern culture and its impact on youth." Senate majority leader Trent Lott seemed intent on keeping his earlier vow that gun control legislation would never pass on his watch. He called the renewed push for gun control a typical "knee-jerk reaction" to the shootings and staved off for at least two weeks an effort to have a vote, in the hope that emotions will cool. The House, heavily mortgaged to the gun lobby, has scheduled no bills. House Republican whip Tom DeLay, whose office was the site of the murder...

This advanced technique is reserved for those who carry their keycards around their necks. Heavily influenced by Eastern philosophy, this no-hands approach will be the envy of all once perfected. Dangle your card at the bottom of the reader until it catches. with a quick jerk of the neck, whip the card up and out of the slot. When executed correctly, you may feel a sharp pain in the small of the back--have no fear, this will be quickly soothed by the glowing accolades from you colleagues...

Krauthammer's ill-considered essay belies his usual knee-jerk hostility toward everything Clinton does. Krauthammer claims that the President meant for his "doctrine" to be "universal," and then the author unwittingly cites cases of U.S. nonintervention that disprove this claim. In fact, Clinton has never said the U.S. seeks to stop all humanitarian abuses in the world. And just because a goal is not fully obtainable doesn't mean it is not worth pursuing. Clinton's policy in the Balkans may be too reactive, but it would indeed be immoral not to stop Milosevic's rapes and murders...
