...glad that it has been decided to have no formal decision rendered in the Harvard-Yale joint debate. An effort was made, we understand, to make arrangements for the rendering of such a decision, but from several causes it fell through. There would have been little to gain by the giving of a formal decision on the merits of the debate. It would not have settled at all any question regarding the general oratorical and debating abilities of the two colleges, but would have been, on the whole, rather an undignified ending to the debate. ...meeting of the Harvard Union last night considerable discussion took place with reference to the arrangements for the joint debate with Yale. The six committees who had the matter in charge were not however able to report definitely, but two plans were proposed for obtaining the money to meet the expenses, namely, by subscription and by charging admission. Mr. Dallinger for the executive committee reported that the Yale men could not get a Yale professor to come up with them, and all things considered preferred that no decision on the debate be made...

...management of the Harvard Union has been very busy lately making arrangements for the joint debate with Yale. The following committees have been appointed: Reception committee of which R. M. Gillespie '92, is chairman; advertising committee, A. P. Stone '93, chairman; press committee, P. L. Horne '92, chairman; committee on ushering, A. B. Keeler '94, chairman; committee on tickets, J. M. Perkins '92, chairman. There has been a large demand for tickets not only from men in college but also many outsiders have applied. Just how the tickets should be distributed is a most perplexing question...
