When Samuel Eliot Morison '08, Jonathan Trumbull Professor of American History, retires this June, an unusual and generally unrecognized competition will move into a new phase. Carl J. Friedrich, professor of Government, will move to the head of the faculty competition for titles in Widener. An unofficial survey of Widener's card catalog disclosed yesterday that Morison has a commanding lead.
