Sources told TIME that Brian ("Kato") Kaelin, O.J. Simpson's friend and tenant, may not have told the whole truth when he testified at the June preliminary hearings that led to Simpson's indictment for murder. Kaelin testified that he heard three loud "thumps" outside his quarters on the night of the murders, checked out the noise, but saw no one. However, prosecutors are looking into a claim that when Kaelin went out to investigate, he in fact discovered Simpson.
