The Show Boat tunes, some of the bravest in U.S. operetta, were dressed up last year by their composer in symphonic finery at the persuasion of Conductor Rodzinski. The music at times smacks strongly of Handel, especially in the spirited little military prelude with its trumpet flourishes, and in the long sensuous string melodies that recur so frequently.
