Captain Joseph Kerr Bush Jr., 25, the Texan whose death in Laos officially did not occur in "a combat situation," saw much action nonetheless. When he arrived in the country in June 1968 as an "assistant military attache," he was posted to Muong Soui, a key town now in Communist hands.
