DIED. CLARK KERR, 92, educational innovator while president of the University of California system in the 1950s and '60s; in El Cerrito, Calif. He pushed for the right of every student to a college education, regardless of ability to pay, and created a multicampus public institution that became a blueprint for state universities across the nation.
