...Further, while Statham and his rivals could kill only one another, the drivers in Death Race 2000 can run up the score by knocking off pedestrians: 40 points for a teenager, 100 for anyone over 70. Frankenstein, whose lizard-green car sports fangs from its grille, is considered the good guy because, when he drives up to an old folks' home, he leaves the seniors alone and kills only a half-dozen doctors and nurses. In fact, Frank harbors his own insurrectionist tendencies. He's got an explosive embedded in his palm (it's not called a hand grenade...
...Argentina actually pulled within six, when Anthony launched a desperation three pointer ahead of the halftime buzzer. Juan Pedro Llanas Gutierrez blocked it, and it looked as if we had a game here. But wait, a whistle? The ref wanted to pull the tweeter out now and kill Argentina's momentum? It was a terrible call, and it meant three shots for 'Melo. He sank them all, giving the U.S. that tiny bit of comfort it carried into the third quarter. Game over...
...understand why for six years the Afghans have been saying to their allies that the war against terrorism will not be won unless and until we go to the sanctuaries, to the training grounds, to the financiers, to the motivators of hatred that come across the border to kill us all. That's eight caveats right there. Such a weapon would be worthless against moving or heavily-defended targets (developing such a capability would take at least a decade and cost as much as $25 billion) and represents only a "niche capability" designed to attack stationary terrorists or nuclear weapons...
Since the 1960s, more than 120,000 people have been killed in the southern Philippines as Islamic separatists have battled government troops for control of parts of Mindanao. But this week's bloody events have pushed the region closer than ever to all-out war. On Aug. 20, the Philippine government ordered police commandos into the area with orders to kill insurgents. The government has also reportedly sent a shipment of weapons to local militias. General Alexander Yano, head of the country's armed forces, called the insurgent attacks a "virtual declaration of war," while President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo ordered...
