...News of the decision to stop funding Ed in '08 comes four days after the leaders of the campaign, along with New York City schools chancellor Joel Klein and the Rev. Al Sharpton, sent a letter to vice-presidential debate moderator Gwen Ifill urging her to ask more questions about education. The Sept. 29 letter noted that in this election cycle, just 20 of the 653 questions asked at 30 presidential debates have dealt with education - about 3%. "In the last Democratic debate in Cleveland, for instance, Senators Obama and Clinton spent more than 15 minutes discussing health care, [while...
...Campaign I couldn't help noticing the democratic slant to Joe Klein's article on John McCain's campaign of lies [Sept. 29]. In the same issue, a two-page chart showed a good many half truths and lies credited to the Democrats too. Seems to me that Barack Obama and Joe Biden did as well or better when it came to distorting the facts. Dick Riddle, Tonasket, Washington...
...Klein claims there is little "moral equivalency" between McCain's brand of lying and Obama's, with the former's ranging anywhere from the "annoying to the sleazy." ...last, someone is smart enough to address publicly the nastiness of the McCain campaign. Klein has spelled it out exactly as it is. I cannot help wondering if his age and melanoma history have caught up with this man, resulting in an inability to be rational. One day, he is very cordial and soft-spoken; another day, he is very harsh and condemning. If he is elected, we will not have four more years of the Bush Doctrine but four more years of Bush, Cheney, Karl Rove and Donald Rumsfeld rolled into one. God help us.
