...year-old British computer whiz spent seven months tapping into U.S. defense computers -- including eavesdropping on secret U.S. communications over the North Korean nuclear crisis last spring -- and then posted classified messages on the Internet, London's Independent newspaper reported today. The paper said the teenager, known as "Datastream" among Internet users, was finally nabbed by U.S. investigators last July because he left his terminal connected to an American defense computer overnight. (Prosecutors will decide this month whether they can charge him, the paper said.) Said another British hacker, who told the Independent he'd seen Datastream's postings...
North Korea today agreed to send home the remains of David Hilemon, one of two the U.S. helicopters pilots shot down Saturday after they strayed into North Korean airspace. But U.S. officials obtained no agreement on co-pilot Bobby Hall, who reportedly was taken captive after surviving the incident. Rep. Bill Richardson (D-N.M.), who was in Pyongyang to discuss the nuclear accord that the U.S. might delay because of the copter tragedy, will oversee the return of Hilemon's body. North Korea's official radio reported Hall was "now in good health," but said Pyongyang would hold...
Secretary of State Warren Christopher today rejected North Korea's explanation for delaying the release of an American helicopter pilot and the remains of another who were shot down Saturday in North Korean airspace. Christopher said further delay could slow implementation of the two countries' $4 billion nuclear agreement, signed just two months ago. North Korean officials, according to Christopher, are saying the helicopter was downed in a remote area with poor transportation, making it impossible for a speedy return of Chief Warrant Officer Bobby Hall and the remains of Chief Warrant Officer David Hilemon. Christopher made much...

Previously conciliatory, U.S. officials today expressed frustration over the delay, while President Clinton classified the situation as a "high priority" and promised to work towards a quick resolution. North Korea has claimed that the unarmed chopper was shot down when it strayed in their airspace, but the American military is waiting for outside confirmation. Although the White House says...
