Carl Baermann, Jr., was born in Munich in 1839. He was a pupil on the pianoforte of Liszt and in composition, of Lachner. Since 1880 he has been a concert performer and a teacher in America, his permanent home being in Boston. He has been a life-long student of the works of Beethoven, and his influence both in the performance and in the concert teaching of Beethoven's great masterpieces has been of the highest artistic and educational significance.
