...various notable athletic teams which have represented Fair Harvard on flood and field in bygone days. The compiler of these historical potpourris has many a curious legend to tell, - of how that famous crew of 185 - , or was it 186, - when hard pressed by her mighty opponents on Lake Winnipiseogee, and almost swamped by the mighty sea and threatening waves, succeeded at last in getting upon the crest of a heavy rowller, upon which they easily passed the rival boats and won by just one width; of the days of old when the freshmen beat the sophomores at bawl...

...They frequently made excursions in their boats, and occasionally were accompanied by ladies. But in 1851 they were taken by surprise in this way, - Yale had heard that Harvard owned an eight-oared barge, and wishing to vie with her on the water sent a challenge to row on Lake Winnipiseogee. ...work on the "Source of the Mississippi," which might prove a source of great delight to members of History 18. Describing exactly what corner of what hill in what remote district a small stream takes its rise, and illustrating with full-page maps the course of said steam, Itasca Lake, and adjoining swamps and pasture-lands, this little work will serve as a powerful reminder of certain history courses in college. Being polemical as well as minute in detail, it offers additional charms. It appears that Messrs. Ivison, Blakeman, Taylor & Co., sent an exploring party, which disagrees with a former...

...Inter-collegiate Rowing Association, which is now composed of Columbia, Cornell, Bowdoin, Pennsylvania and Brown has decided to have its annual regatta on the 4th of July next. The association decided to have an eight-oared race if any two colleges should send eight-oars; this race to occur a week after the regular race. A single scull race will also...
