Despite its brevity, the band’s history was somewhat complicated. After moving to Cambridge, UK in 1974, playing the folk clubs for a few years and eventually joining up with Rob Lamb, Andy Metcalfe and Windsor as Dennis and the Experts, Hitchcock found himself announcing the band as the Soft Boys to a crowd at a Nov. 1976 show.
