The new theory is that tooth decay is caused by enzymes (i.e., chemical agents produced by bacteria) turning sugars and starches into acids. Last week Lambert Co., Colgate, and Block Drug Co. were already hard at work on new anti-enzyme toothpastes, hope to have their new products on the market this fall.
