...concentrates on criticizing fraternities and sororities instead of addressing the real issue: the dismal state of social life at Harvard. While the staff more than adequately discusses the problems associated with the new groups, it almost completely ignores the fact that these new organizations are mere symptoms of a larger problem that both students and the administration must face. To be critical is fine. But to be critical without making positive suggestions for constructive change is counterproductive. Here are three positive suggestions which the staff could have made to these groups...

Harvard also refuses to recognize groups that are affiliated with national organizations, and we support this policy. Not only do the students who run these groups have no control over the larger direction of the organization--such as whether to admit women--but Harvard has much less control over the groups in question. Harvard's policy may be against discrimination, but if the national organization's is not, the group must be loyal to the latter or risk losing its affiliation...
