Some of the homeowners who are losing wealth reside in Clarke County, Ga., Congressman Broun's home turf, which also had $1.9 billion in deposits in financial institutions in 2006, according to the University of Georgia. Investors and money managers in Asia were relieved yesterday after the 7% plunge in the Dow Jones Industrial Average, which marked the largest one-day points drop in Wall Street history, did not ignite a calamitous selloff on Asian markets.
