...Surveyor, is an orbiter that will arrive in September 1997 and spend at least four months circling the planet and mapping its geology and climate. Despite its small size (10 ft. tall; 2,300 lbs.), the spacecraft carries quite an instrument load, including magnetometers to measure magnetic fields, a laser altimeter that can gauge the height of surface features to within 30 ft., and optical cameras that can detect objects as small...

Much has been written, some of it bitingly critical, about the arcane ways of English public school education, but it has probably been a refuge for a boy for whom the limelight has become a laser. Wills has gone the conventional route, and that means he started boarding school at eight. The place was called Ludgrove, and it was an exclusive feeding station for Eton. Accordingly, "Eraser" features one or two memorable action sequences--the reptile house in the Central Park Zoo--but even those tend to the hackneyed (think exploding glass aquariums). The gimmick laser gun features advanced infrared sighting, but this, of course, is old hat to veterans of Arnold's "Predator" phase. Most shockingly, one of the stunts that helps identify the movie--Arnold's leaping out of an airplane and playing "follow that parachute"--features what looks like a very shoddy mixture of blue-screen work and frenzied, bumpy camera movement. Where welldone, innovative action sequences and stories marked earlier Arnold...

...garden in Grand Rapids, Michigan. With a Presbyterian minister presiding, Crane, 31, a high school music director, and his lover of four years, Randy Block, 36, affirmed their love and exchanged gold rings. Almost immediately the religious right directed its ire at Crane with the pinpoint accuracy of a laser-guided missile...
