That the University Ensign School which graduated its last class of cadets yesterday, was the first Officers' Material School in the country to open during the war and the last to close, was the statement of Capt. P. W. Hourigan, commandant of the School, in his farewell address. It also, he said, had the reputation of turning out the best reserve officers of any one school, and had graduated 890 ensigns, second only to the Annapolis Reserve School which commissioned 1,000 men. Thirteen University men receive their ensign's commissions in the Naval Reserve this afternoon when the last class, numbering 116, of the Officers' Material School graduates. President Lowell, Rear Admiral Wood, and Captain P. W. Hourigan, Commandant of the School, will speak at the graduation exercises in Sanders Theatre at 3 o'clock. The newly commissioned officers will be placed on inactive duty, unless they apply, in accordance with a recent order from Washington, for temporary commissions in the regular navy...

Today is the last day in the annual old clothes and text-book collection of the Phillips Brooks House Association. Shortly after noon a truck will begin the rounds of the various dormitories to collect the clothes and books that have been gathered.
