...first indoor open handicap games of the First Regiment Athletic Association were held in the South Armory, Boston, Saturday evening. An unusually large number of Harvard men entered, and the showing they made in all the contests reflected credit on the H. A. A. and upon Mr. Lathrop...
There is at present no one at the gymnasium whose province it is to give regular instruction in indoor gymnastic work. Mr. Lathrop used to take it upon his shoulders and does now as far as possible, but the responsibility of training a hundred and twenty candidates for the Mott Haven team, so loads him with work after the Christmas recess, that he has no time for anything else. Mr. Lathrop impressed the fact that he expected to give his attention to the beginners as well as to the "stars" and urged the freshmen especially to turn out and train for the team. About 125 candidates presented themselves. This is larger than any previous year and it is expected that half as many more will turn out in a few days. Regular classes will begin...
