Stingy was what the seniors called the freshmen when the latter only tossed $159 into the sheet. Throughout the steel dispute, Truman has notably failed to coordinate the policies of his Wage Board and his Price Board. The latter body is supposed to hold down the price level, which cannot be done if wages in a basic industry take a rapid rise. The Wage Board, in the steel case, threw its weight on the side of a large wage increase. From this failure evil consequences flowed: 1) the irresponsible contradiction in Government policy aggravated the struggle between unions and companies; 2) Mobilizer Charles Wilson quit in protest; 3) Truman, seeking a way out, proclaimed a doctrine...

This vote might be very close indeed. The contested delegations will be voted on in alphabetical order. Assuming that the Credentials Committee has seated Taft delegates from Louisiana, Mississippi and Texas, the latter two, with a total of 43 votes, can cast them to confirm the seating of the Taftmen from Louisiana. Then Louisiana (with 15) and Texas can help to vote in the Taft delegations from Mississippi. But when it comes to Texas, the vote may be much tighter for two reasons: i) the Taft machine's tactics in Texas were so flagrantly unfair that some independent Taftmen...

Unfortunately, the producers decided to link young love with a concerted campaign for better and earlier sex education. There is some connection between the two, but here too much of a contrast for the latter to create much of an effect. With some drastic editing and more perceptive direction the two themes might well have come to a better understanding. At it is, when the picture ends happily for the young couple, one still does not know what will happen to sex in the Italian schools...
