...still functioning family and leads the daughter Tracy (Evan Rachel Wood) to the brink of disaster. It contains a nice, dithering performance by Holly Hunter as a mom making a living by hairdressing at home while trying to sustain a relationship with an unpromising guy (Jeremy Sisto). In the latter, the mother Tess (Jamie Lee Curtis) and her kid are magically obliged to switch roles, with Mom enduring a day as a teenager and the teenager taking over the woman's psychology practice...

...doing valuable things that fall just outside the normal scope of governance. Service is more intense: it is a full-time commitment to do the most difficult public works-policing, teaching, social casework. The Police Corps, which exists outside AmeriCorps, and Teach for America are exemplars of the latter. They are unabashedly ?litist; TFA accepts only 13% of all applicants. He is not incompetent, but he has governed without much creativity through a succession of crises--the rolling electricity blackouts of 2001 and the subsequent high-tech economic implosion. His greatest political skill seems to be an uncanny ability to raise money. He has used this cash to buy television ads, most of them quite vicious...
