...story is really quite simple: A poor but honorable lad named Charles Ryder (played in the new movie by Matthew Goode) goes up to Oxford where he meets Sebastian Marchmain (Ben Whishaw) when the latter leans in his window and throws up on his floor. Soon enough they're dining on plover's eggs and mooning over one another. Sebastian introduces Charles to his family - in this film living in a statelier home than any Masterpiece Theater ever dreamed of - which includes his sister, Julia (Hayley Atwell), and his sternly religious mother (Emma Thompson, splendidly playing as far from...

But even the primary practitioner of modern golf couldn't overcome Harrington's ability to fuse flawless technique with sunny implacability. Sports psychologist Bob Rotella - who reportedly stayed in Harrington's house this whole week of the Open - says the key to golf is to enjoy...

...most wicked men on the face of the earth since the days of Father Adam." Those words, spoken by polygamist sect leader Warren Jeffs, were recorded in a jailhouse phone conversation over year ago. On tape, he renounced his leadership of the Fundamentalist Latter Day Saints, the breakaway Mormon sect whose latest run-in with the law saw hundreds of women and children rounded up by authorities in Eldorado, Texas...
