...first scheduled contest was between the second school four oars. Wind conditions made it difficult rowing and the shells were tossed about considerably. There was some confusion as to the finish line, for the stroke of the winning Noble and Greenough crew at the sound of the launch's warning whistle before going under the bridge apparently thought the race over and stopped altogether. He noticed his mistake at once, however, and in a final drive increased the lead, crossing the line one length and three-quarters in the lead. Brookline High School was second, with a lead...

...shells and other equipment have been moved from Lynn to Newell Boat Club, and the University crews will row on the Charles River from now until they leave for Red Top early in June. The coaching launches, "John Harvard" and "Veritas," are not yet ready for use, but work has begun on fitting them out, and they will be launched soon. The "Pup," the gasoline launch, is now in running order, and Coaches Herrick and Haines will use this to direct the practice of the University crews until the others are in the water...

...Farragut Boat Club, Lynn, to Ocean Pier at Revere Beach, a distance of six miles, and the water being very smooth, a great deal was accomplished. On the way back to the boat club the two crews rowed side by side. Coaches Herrick and Haines followed in the launch, and an excellent opportunity was afforded to compare the individual work of the men in the two shells. While there are still some ragged spots, both crews showed surprisingly good form for the length of time they have been on the water...
