...newly commissioned arrangement of "A Christmas Song," written by the late Mel Torme, was a touching, beautiful addition to the program. However, the highlight of the concert was certainly the musical arrangement of Dr. Seuss' Yuletide classic, How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Narrated by Will LeBow, a local actor with the American Repertory Theatre as well as the voice of Stanley on the animated series, "Dr. Katz: Professional Therapist," the entire audience was chuckling with laughter remembering the childhood tale. ...after watching LeBow in action, I am not fully convinced that classroom teaching cannot result in the same degree of wide-scale change. LeBow and the other PEN teachers, according to PEN director Robert F. Luo '00, each teach 12-15 students only one hour each week. Teaching English to immigrants or basic computer literacy to disadvantaged adults can improve the situations of a PEN student's entire family...
