That was a wise plan which gave to the students of Wellesley College Monday, as a day of recreation. It was in self-defense. On every other day of the week there blazes over the college entrance the old legend "Let no man enter in on pain of death." If one desires to visit Wellesley the visit must be made on Monday. The reason of this strange choice of a "play day" is very evident. Wellesley is pre-eminently a college

...other customs, the society has hitherto had rooms where the members have met and debated on the important subjects which have come up for consideration. Now, we regret to learn, this old custom has been given up. The new shingles which have just been printed bear the following remarkable legend : "The members are requested to meet in their rooms this evening." M. the legend "Furniture for Sale" and underneath a skull and crossbones and the figures "322" (these being the myssic symbols on the pins of the bonesmen). Under the numbers was written "An election guaranteed to all those buying $20 worth." The sign was placed there early in the morning but by chapel time it had mysteriously disappeared. This morning, however, it was hoisted higher up in the tree...

...rendering of the final allegro movement added much to the interpretation of the number. The symphonic poem, "The Tempest," which was conducted by the composer, aroused in its strong contrasts all the fire and brilliancy and all the subdued feelings which the poetic drama itself inspires. In "Lohengrin's Legend and Farewell," Mr. Chas. R. Adams gave one of the gems of the evening, and it is doubtful if Mr. Adams ever rendered a solo more pleasingly or with better effect...
