The Australian aborigines also find themselves sitting on much of Australia's potential uranium supply. Like the Native Americans, they consider these uranium mountains sacred. They even have a legend about them, which says that if even one of those mountains is disturbed, a huge snake will emerge to destroy the world...

...Tannhauser, April 26. Beyond the superb production--including a shadowy, carnal Venusberg and rear projections of woods--this Tannhauser features the legend of Leonie Rysanek's exuberant Elisabeth, a vocal titan of a heroine. Richard Cassilly in the title role acts and sings much more reliably than the man he replaced, James McCracken, whose croaking was the chief liability of this opera as presented in New York last year...

Among the stories, "Tales of the Swedish Army" relates a sudden meeting of the author and a unit of Swedish soldiers on maneuvers in lower Manhattan, an exercise of the imaginative virtuosity that has characterized...

...combine a parodic sense with an underlying faith in the essential form and a dose of the new and vital. The Sex Pistols achieve this delicate balance on side two in their reclamation of "Johnny B. Goode" and Boston local Jonathan Richman's "Road Runner." Sure to be a legend of rock and roll, this track alone justifies the rather extravagant price which decorates the album jacket. Opening with the terrific backbeat and acid guitar which became the signature of the band. "Johnny B. Goode" leaps up an emotional notch when that manic wail of a lead vocalist begins...
