...weather. The course is straight away from the Brookline bridge to the Union boat-house, a distance of one and seveneighths miles. The races are always rowed with the tide; but as east winds are very common, very few races have been rowed on this course in less than eleven minutes. Last year the '83 crew won easily in 11.30 and the year before last '82 won in 12.43. The best record is 9.4, made by the '84 freshman crew in its race with Columbia...

Thayer, Homans and Sutton rowed in one race last year. Baldwin and Yocum have never been in a race, but the latter has done more or less rowing in a pair-oared boat, and went out with the university eight last fall. Keith has rowed in three, Hansen in two races. Gilman was in both races in his freshman year, but was rowing with the university crew last year...
