Practice for the University Crew started on September 17, when two full crews, reported. For the first few weeks the work was light, and consisted mainly of long paddles to enable the men to get into condition. With the Princeton race in view, the first crew soon started on time trials and races with the second crew. The Freshman eight of last year furnished the crew with promising material and three Sophomores were on the crew which raced Princeton. Alterations in the Fogg Museum were made during the fall and winter, and the building was re-opened on February 4. The roof was raised a considerable distance, increasing the exhibition space and greatly improving the light and ventilation of the second floor. Space which had formerly been wasted has been utilized as workrooms, store-rooms, and quarters for the staff. The main gallery is now better lighted and the capacity of the photograph room is enlarged...

Harvard Training Quarters, Red Top, Conn., June 11, 1914. This morning all crews went out fon light work-outs. The water was smooth but the heat was intense. This afternoon the boats were not put in the water until about 7.30. The University and second crews went down to the bridge in launches and raced up-stream. At the two-mile mark the Freshmen relieved the second and raced the last two miles. Since it was pitch dark no official time was taken.
