...London. They arrived exactly a week ago and since their arrival have been doing hard work to get into condition for their race with the Cornell freshmen on the 20th. During the whole season they have been considered fast for a freshman crew. To be sure they are very light, twenty pounds lighter than either of their opponents in the three cornered race but they are "sandy" and very quick. They will row in a shell made by Waters. The gravest criticism of the crew as a whole is a tendency to rush forward the slides, which gives a perceptible...
...page calls attention to a most unfortunate condition of things, yet one which surely exists. The complaints which have been entered at the police court show conclusively that there is some systematic thieving done either by students or outsiders. In view of certain facts which have recently come to light, it does not seem improbable that men who are connected with the University are engaged in this contemptible practice. ...number of the Monthly appearing today is largely given up to fiction. Though the stories are above average undergraduate offer's they are not up to the Monthly's standard and are rather disappointing. There are three, "A Ray of Light," "Javente," and "The Mellow Drama of Love." All start well and succeed in holding the reader's attention, but the endings of the first and last are very weak while the ending of "Javente" is worse than weak. It is unnecessary, not justified by the rest of the sorry, and the conception is certainly no credit to the author...
