...fact, there were a lot of things the tests didn't tell me. Unlike a pregnancy test, with its emphatic yes or no, ancestral-DNA testing gives you only a "statistical likelihood" of membership in a certain group. I don't know how many generations ago those ethnicities appeared in my family tree, nor (without further tests) on which side. Moreover, the gene test hasn't been invented that can unravel the improbable chain of events that connected Belorussians with Mozambicans, and American Indians with Poles--ultimately to produce me, a Latina living and working in New York City...
...years later, as Cuban-Americans continue to clutch yellowing deeds and titles, the likelihood of ever recovering the actual properties has dimmed like a Havana brownout. No one knows how many houses in Cuba are still claimed by exiles; but more than one family often occupies each home there, especially since housing construction in impoverished Cuba is light-years behind the island's population growth. If Cuban-Americans show up in even a democratized Cuba demanding those dwellings, they're likely to face the wrath of Cubans who tend to resent imperious exiles as much as they disdain Fidel. Says...

That's because the three-year campaign of terror against Shi'ite civilians by Sunni insurgents has led the community to see its militias, rather than the central government, as its only protection. As that violence escalates, the likelihood diminishes that these communities will support any effort to forcefully dismantle the militias. Nor can an agreement to disarm be easily orchestrated by removing the insurgent threat, since the branch of the insurgency responsible for targeting the Shi'ites is led by al-Qaeda in Iraq, the faction most implacably...

But to use the phone as your primary MP3 player, it will cost extra money (not just the memory card but $30 for the required "music essentials kit") and, in all likelihood, some troubleshooting time...
...House is paved in images of determination and strength, particularly in times of indefinite war. In a Gallup July 20 poll on Clinton’s “strengths and weaknesses,” only 32 percent of independents said that Clinton’s gender improves the likelihood of voting for her, to which only 24 percent of men agreed. Instead, these two swing groups are attracted to her centrist position on the war on terror and her “forthright/outspoken/direct” manner, not her ability to channel country-girl paradigms by dressing in pink...
