...cope with a major disturbance. To be sure, there are some signs of disquiet. Some 1,135 East Germans last year managed to flee over the wall to the West. At one point during last week's celebrations, 200 restless young East Berliners paraded down Unter den Linden chanting: "Eins, zwei, drei, Sex!" But they knew better than to shout anything more defiant-such as demands for political reforms. Culturally, Ulbricht maintains such a tight rein that most of Evgeny Evtushenko's poetry is proscribed, and even some recent Soviet films have been banned as "unsafe." Determinedly apolitical...

Daedalus shares the blue-white frame on Linden Street with the Bureau of Study Counsel, but it has no official ties with the University. It began as the Journal of the Academy of Arts and Sciences, and arrived at Harvard through the services of John Adams and the default of history. Sterilization in All. To test their premise, the Czechs dripped solutions containing 1, 10 and 100 micrograms of DMF on three groups of ten male linden-bugs, then placed each group in a separate container with ten normal females. As the bugs mated, eggs laid by the females were carefully watched. None of those from females confined with males treated with 100 micrograms of DMF ever hatched. Few eggs from the 10-microgram group and only half from the 1-microgram group eventually hatched into larvae. Analysis of the females that had mated with the 100-microgram males proved that...
