...Colonize the Web: With his three-minute web debut, The Landlord, Will Ferrell made the Internet safe for A-list comics. You could do the same for top-tier directors, by curating a Web site full of shorts from your classy friends. Think of it as the 21st century version of how you started, playing your student films on a bed sheet strung up in somebody's backyard...

...TIME 100 You went nearly halfway around the globe to find someone who would substantiate George W. Bush's addition to your list, and that person reached back seven years only to recall what a sincere family man Bush was [May 12]. Here in 2008, with eight months left in his eight years in office, Bush has little worldwide credibility, and a record 70% of the American public no longer supports his policies. Incompetent and ineffectual, he is a lame-duck President, already shadowed by the candidates seeking to replace him. By what reasonable measure is he today...

...geography professor striving to get students to think globally, and I found your list to be disappointing and deceptive. TIME has blurred the distinction between important and much less important. Tim Russert, Suze Orman, Miley Cyrus, etc., among the most influential people in the world? Really? The trite small-mindedness behind some of your selections is really astounding. Readers can only imagine how much less fluffy and myopic a more meaningful list...

...When I saw the inclusion of Tony Blair under "Heroes & Pioneers," my jaw dropped. To list him as one of the world's most influential people is perfectly reasonable, but to praise him as a man of peace is just absurd. He was a warmonger, and by his actions and foreign policy has placed the people of the United Kingdom in terrible danger for decades to come. In the next TIME 100, if you must include people like Blair just make sure there's an appropriate section - "War Criminals" perhaps. Lloyd Gosden, WILTSHIRE, ENGLAND...

...appalled to see that on your list of do's and don'ts, one of the don'ts is to ask your parents to get involved in anything other than financial aid. As the parent of a 16-year-old high school junior, I see this as nothing more than an attack on the family unit. My wife and I are both college-educated with professional careers. We are certainly capable of helping our daughter deal with being on a waitlist or any other issues around getting into college, including identifying others who might be able to help...
