Except during the last ten minutes of play the work of the University hockey team in practice yesterday afternoon was wretched. In the first half, luring thirty minutes of slow and listless work, the first team defeated the second by a score of 5 goals to 1, owing mainly to the weak defense of the second team. The only encouraging feature of the half was the fact that, at times, the men showed signs of playing together. In the second half, the forwards were interchanged, the first team men playing on the second. For the first thirty minutes of play...
...first half was fast and the work in general good, but in the second half the playing was listless, owing principally to the heavy fall of snow which made accurate passing very difficult. The goal-shooting was very good and Ivy and Carr as usual proved a strong defense. Some carelessness was shown by the University team in carrying the puck across the rink directly in front of their goal and the forwards still failed to use the side of the rink to any extent...

The playing of the Freshmen in the first half was listless, and as a result there was no scoring; but in the second half the team played swiftly, and with large and consistent gains rushed the ball for three touchdowns. The work of Starr, Sibley, Foster and White, for the Freshmen, was especially good; Morgan and Gates excelled for St. Paul...
...practice of the Freshman football squad yesterday consisted mostly of elementary work in which there remains much to be accomplished. The line lacks in weight and energy, and the squad as a whole is listless and indifferent in spirit. An encouraging feature is the punting, but in other work the men are not as far advanced as the average Freshman squad at this time of year. After the preliminary work in punting, and running down on kicks for the ends and backs, and in charging and breaking through for the line-men, the squads went through signal practice, after which...
