...messages, such as daite ageru wayo (I shall hold you), before sending the tissue arching over the footlights. The top rockabilly stars-Masaaki Hirao, 20; Keijiro Yamashita, 19; Micky Curtis, 18, the son of an English father and an English-Japanese mother-wear flame-red shirts, rose-pink coats, lobster-colored tight pants, blue or white suede shoes. They have learned their art from listening to U.S. records of Elvis Presley, though sometimes the lyrics suffer a transoceanic mutilation, as in Rub Me Tender and Rittoru Dahring (Little Darling). Hi rao is solemnly described by one of his fans...

Major General John Medaris, U.S. Army, 55, commander of the Huntsville Agency, with black mustache and swagger stick, often comes across as the dashing soldier type. He is something more and something different. Ohio-born John Medaris worked his way through high school driving a lobster-shift taxi and street car, began flying at twelve (he lied about his age). On his 16th birthday he enlisted in the Marine Corps, arrived in France too late for combat, was discharged as a corporal, and went back to Ohio State University for a degree in mechanical engineering. As a senior R.O.T.C. cadet...

...little rapport with the Bach, and all by itself was pretty poor. The three dancers did not seem agreed as to the meaning of the simple pastoral dance they were trancing their way through. The Bach was followed by Two Choruses from Alice in Wonderland. The Lobster Quadrille, featuring six girls in red flannel pajamas playing crustacean, was not art but was lots of fun. Father William was charmingly danced by Jane Classen and Adele Logan. The choreography by Miss Classen was repititious at times, but still pleasant...

...actor (Amedeo Nazzari). The shabby little streetwalker (Giulietta Masina) can hardly believe her ears, but she jumps into his flashy American car, and they drive to his villa, a California! creation on the Appian Way. "Where do you live?" he asks her idly, as she nibbles at caviar and lobster in his overpoweringly seductive apartment. "Oh," she answers him, dazed with all the magnificence and trying desperately to live up to it, "I'm not like the others. I never sleep under the aqueduct. I have a house of my own - everything! Even a thermometer!" He smiles tolerantly. Suddenly...
