...Nora Seton as Nora, who looks and sounds remarkably like Shirley Temple. When, early in the play, she twitters to her husband. "You're gonna be making a BIG salary and LOTS of money," one expects her, at any minute, to burst into a chorus of "The Good Ship Lollipop." Instead of a pampered, sheltered woman forced to realize her inner strength and need for independence. Seton's Nora is a scheming pixie. Seton gives Nora the resourcefulness of a very clever child in lieu of intelligence. We don't see Nora's growing awareness or her' sensitivity; rather...

...William Schmidt, 35, of San Jose, Calif., is a successful dentist. If that description conjures up nervous waits in a bland, Muzak-filled office and a white-coated figure poking fingers, drills or needles into the patient's mouth, with possibly a palliative lollipop or pat on the back afterward, forget it. Dr. Schmidt practices his profession in a red cape and bright blue tights. He calls himself "Plaque Invader." The cape outfit is only one of twelve costumes he dons to amuse young patients. In fact, Frankfurt was the only dentist he had ever seen who had a sign on his door that read, 'Thank You, Call Again Soon...

Another brother offers the visitor an opinion: "Every time there is anything all-male, the women can't wait to break...

Although the style of the Italian Home may appear anachronistic to some, conjuring harsh. Dickensian images, the atmosphere is one of warmth and concern for each child's future. A typical scene is one I encountered two weeks before Christmas: two little girls were singing "Good Ship Lollipop" in unison, while others helped arrange chairs for the public performance, intermittently banging on the piano. One of the former inhabitants retains such close ties that upon growing up he moved next door, and now works as the supervisor of maintenance and construction...
