...Those bells are louder after Chavez recently revoked the license of an opposition television network, RCTV. The problem wasn't that RCTV was pulled off the air - it loudly encouraged a coup attempt against Chavez in 2002, something the FCC probably wouldn't condone in the U.S. - but that Chavez failed to put the license up for bidding by independent broadcasters. Instead, he used it to create another pro-government network. ...this "Death to Israel" stuff is of a piece with normal Hizballah propaganda. But what's different about the Spider Web museum as a whole is the macho, bragging tone. Hizballah was once famous for being one of the few Arab organizations that let its actions speak louder than words. The swagger shown since last summer is both a sign of newfound confidence, and of weakness. For though Hizballah may have won the war against Israel, it has not yet won the peace...

Hubbard gave his mostly positive take on the state of the global economy, then asked for questions. Richard Feng, CEO of furniture maker Markor, went straight to issue No. 1 in U.S.-China economic relations: the ever louder demands from Capitol Hill that China let its currency rise as much as 40% against the dollar. That would, in theory at least, make Chinese products more expensive in the U.S. and U.S. products cheaper in China. Americans would buy less, the Chinese would buy more, thus reducing the huge trade imbalance between the countries-- $20 billion in May alone...
