...Lovejoy was born in Berlin, Germany, in October, 1873, the son of the Reverend W. W. Lovejoy, of Boston. He received his education at the University of California, obtaining his A.B. in 1895. In 1897 he took his master's degree from Harvard and continued his studies at the University of Paris during 1898 and 1899. The degree of L.L.D. was bestowed upon him in 1924 by the University of California.
