...June 5.--The University and Freshman crew squads arrived here late yesterday afternoon, and with the exception of the second crew and the Freshman four-oar, went out at once for practice. The University crew rowed over the four-mile course at a low stroke in about 24 minutes. For the first two miles the Freshmen paced the University boat, and rowing a slightly higher stroke, finished a length ahead. Rough water and a head wind account for the slow time.
