Lots, say lawyers representing approximately 44 million customers in a $10 billion class action against AT&T, which administered the post-Ma Bell leasing program from 1984 to 1996, and Lucent, its consumer-products spin-off, which runs the program today. The suit, set for trial Aug. 5 in Illinois, alleges that after the Bell breakup, AT&T failed to adequately inform customers of their options to lease, purchase or return their old telephones. ...didn't try to be critical of the men. I did use three examples. Rick Thoman of Xerox is one. Richard McGinn of Lucent is another. And Mike Armstrong of AT&T. I pointed out in all three cases that I didn't think the way they were operating the company was consistent with being able to execute. These are decent men, and I like them. I hope when all is said and done, they take it for the teaching value of it, rather than as a personal criticism...
