Last night the Leverett Glee Club, joined for the first time by the Wellesley College Madrigal Group, sang to an audience of over 200 faculty members and students in the annual Leverett House Christmas concert.
Wellesley's Madrigal Group Choir will join forces with the Leverett House Glee Club tonight in a concert to be given following the House Christmas dinner.
This will be the first time that any Wellesley choral group has performed at the University. The Madrigal Group and the Leverett singers will each give six selections separately and will combine their talents in three numbers at the end of the program.
Katharine Hack, Wellesley, class of '39, will direct the Madrigal group, while George W. Phillips '39, is to conduct the Leverett House Glee Club.
Lovers of the madrigal will take particular delight in a number of the first editions of the English composers William Byrd, Thomas Morley, Thomas Watson, and John Amner. In addition to Byrd's first editions are shown a set of four part-song manuscripts of his madrigals.
