Fish Drown In Mainstream. Cf. The Rainmaker. Alien was all about space's anti-style, the work of the master sci-fi craftsman Ridley Scott--a victory. Jeunet tries valiantly--exploiting Hedaya's body hair, letting bounty hunters give foot massages, thrilling to the goofy jive of outer space--but there's little definitive indication he directed the second half of the movie...
Comic books don't usually get a lot of attention from the mainstream media. But when Oliver Stone, high-grossing film-maker and conspiracy theorist extraordinary, decides to option the movie rights to a moderately popular black-and-white independent comic book, all eyes are suddenly drawn in its direction...

He puts the author's name in front of the title as if to warn us before the movie even begins: "This is a Grisham movie! Watch Coppola go mainstream!" Indeed, he keeps his promise: for Godfather fans, John Grisham's The Rainmaker is painful to watch...
