...view from ground-based obser vatories is of great impor tance as well. It was with the mammoth 200-incher at Palomar Observatory in California that Astronomers David C. Jewitt and G. Edward Danielson first spied Halley's, on Oct. 16, 1982, when it was more than 1 billion miles from earth. Ever since then, most of the world's major telescopes have been trained on the comet at some point. At Lowell Observatory in Flagstaff, Ariz., Astronomers Lawrence Wasserman and Edward Bowell have calculated 40 points on the comet's route at which it will pass directly in front...
...tackle George Kostakos. Main problem here is lack of size and lack of depth. Must improve tremedously today if Harvard is to win. * OFFENSIVE LINE: An experienced offensive line is one of the main reasons Penn (6-1-1) has reeled off five straight Ivy victories this year. The mammoth line, led by senior center Steve Buonato, has provided more than adequate holes for Comizio and Co., and has given Crocicchia fantastic protection. His testimony supported the view of Presidential Science Adviser George Keyworth, who earlier this year warned that "it would be a serious blow to U.S. scientific leadership if that facility were built in another country...

Even the most serious of causes can be funny, and the Committee took no offense at the satire implicit in the SASC's "Hey, hey, ho, ho, blood on your portfolio" antics. We admit that some of our slogans, such as "Derek Bok, Derek Bok, Let the woolly mammoth walk," were trite, and could stand some mockery. Now, however, the fun has gone too far. Victoria G.T. Bassetti's editorial in the Oct. 28 Crimson, far from being humorous, is seriously offensive. Parodies of mammoth slogans...
...sometimes taken seriously, and President Bok may have been confused by the deadpan style of the "Harvard-Radcliffe Alumni for Divestiture" letter, and put off by the list of 300 plus signatures, a realistic but tedious touch. The Committee wishes the antiracist lambasters well in their drive to relax mammoth tensions with some satire, but we would appreciate a little consideration. Glenn McDonald '89 Henry Riggs...
