...theater, Fosse's fluid scene shifting seemed cinematic. On film, the process is reversed. Dance numbers are given coy subtitles, crowd scenes seem achingly stagy. Whenever he cannot provide a valid transition, Fosse makes the frame a mammoth still picture of his star -strictly for those interested in the north, south, east and west faces of Mt. MacLaine. Regardless of how attractive the faces are, that is not film making, it is map making...
...Willie Mae Rogers has faded back into the world of Good Housekeeping. This is a shame, for while the magazine's mammoth advertising lineage is a testimonial to a valiant researcher, the stuff between the ads is tawdry--hardly worthy of a money-back guarantee. The March issue, for instance, features mainly articles for voyeurs ("Petula Clark: Is She Another Julie Andrews?") and sexmaniacs (a romance-mystery, "The Night Before the Wedding," by the authors of "That Darn...
...President an average of 90 minutes a day, apart from formal meetings of the National Security Council. Most of his aides were in place by Inauguration Day, and the Kissinger staff began immediately to grind out position papers...

So what Shurcliffe now has to do is convince Congress that it's better to give up what's been invested than to throw away any more. To that end, he spends many pages trying to prove that the SST will be obsolete before...
...surface, Stoppard has devised an astoundingly clever theatrical trick. We see only the few scraps of Hamlet that Rosencrantz and Guildenstern see. Since they see so little, Hamlet, Claudius, Ophelia and the rest become merely bit parts in Stoppard's play. We see a mammoth tragedy from the worst possible vantage point, and what little of Shakespeare remains in the play seems ridiculous and funny in this context...
