Martene Windsor (Bill) Corum, 63, syndicated New York Journal-American sports columnist, president of Louisville's Churchill Downs race track, network commentator for major boxing events and the World Series; of lung cancer; in Manhattan. Missouri-born Bill Corum started out with the New York Times, went over to Hearst in 1925. That year he saw his first Kentucky Derby, from then on advertised the race so fondly in his columns that when Colonel Matt Winn died in 1949 Corum found that he had written his way into the presidency of Churchill Downs...
